Dr. Alexia Harris, ND

Meet Dr. Harris:

My fascination in the intricate workings of the human body and my love for working with people is what initiated my journey into the field of medicine. However, it was my passion for nutrition, botanical medicine and my understanding of the body’s innate ability to heal, that ultimately guided me to pursue a career in naturopathic medicine.

My academic journey began in 2004 at the University of Western Ontario where I double majored in medical sciences and biology, and graduated with an Honors Bachelor of Science. I was working towards a career in medicine and eventually realized that my ultimate goal was to find a career where my lifestyle and profession would be completely aligned. I then learned about naturopathic medicine through my own healing journey as I struggled with digestive and hormonal imbalances for years.

After my undergraduate studies, I traveled to central America and discovered the world of raw-plant-based nutrition and developed a passion for medicinal plants. I spent time at retreat centers and learned about various fasting and detoxification therapies, which not only transformed my own health, but completely changed my view of medicine and my understanding of treating disease.

In 2010, I moved to Vancouver, BC and decided to expand my knowledge in nutritional medicine and obtained a diploma in holistic nutrition from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition. In 2013, I enrolled at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine in New Westminster, BC, where I embarked upon my journey of becoming a naturopathic physician.

Using an integrative approach to medicine, I offer individualized treatment programs that are designed to get my patients back to a state of optimal health and wellness. After a thorough health history and diagnostic assessment using relevant physical examinations and laboratory tests, I develop treatment protocols using both natural and conventional therapies that target the root cause of illness while emphasizing healthy living and preventative medicine.
